How to use Ask AI for your finances

Ask AI is your personal financial assistant. Type or speak a question in plain English and get instant, personalized answers based on your actual financial data.

What Is Ask AI?

Ask AI lives in your financial dashboard under the Ask tab. It's a conversational interface that understands your connected bank data and can answer questions, surface insights, and help you take action — all in plain English.

What You Can Ask

Ask AI can help with a wide range of financial questions and actions:

Spending Analysis

  • "How much did I spend on food this month?"
  • "What are my top 5 expenses?"
  • "How has my spending changed over the last 3 months?"
  • "Which merchants am I spending the most at?"

Income & Cash Flow

  • "What's my net cash flow this month?"
  • "How much income did I earn last quarter?"
  • "Am I spending more than I earn?"

Budget Help

  • "Am I on track with my budget?"
  • "Which categories am I overspending in?"
  • "How much do I have left to spend on dining this month?"

Goals & Savings

  • "How are my savings goals doing?"
  • "Am I on track to hit my emergency fund goal?"

  • "What's my savings rate?"

Voice Input and Output

Ask AI supports both voice input and voice output:

  • Microphone button — Tap to speak your question. Your speech is transcribed and placed in the input field so you can review or edit before sending.
  • Speaker button — Hover over any AI response and click the speaker icon to hear it read aloud. Only one message plays at a time.

Conversations and Credits

  • Multi-session support — Your conversations are saved. On desktop, a sidebar shows your past sessions so you can pick up where you left off.
  • Credit cost — The first question in a new conversation costs 1 credit. All follow-up questions in the same conversation are free.
  • Suggested questions — After each response, the AI suggests 2–3 contextual follow-up questions you can click to continue the conversation.

Tips for Better Answers

  • Be specific — "How much did I spend on groceries in March?" gets a better answer than "Tell me about my spending."
  • Use follow-ups — Follow-up questions are free and help you drill deeper into a topic.
  • Ask for comparisons — "How does my dining spending this month compare to last month?" gives you actionable context.
  • Try voice — Speaking naturally often produces more detailed questions than typing.

Does Ask AI have access to my bank data?

Yes. Ask AI can see your connected account data including transactions, balances, and categories — the same data visible in your dashboard. It never sees your bank credentials.

How much does it cost to use?

The first question in a new conversation costs 1 credit. All follow-ups in the same conversation are free. You can purchase additional credits from the Credits page.

Can I use voice on mobile?

Yes. The microphone and speaker buttons work on mobile devices that support audio recording.

Are my conversations private?

Yes. Your conversations are stored securely and are only visible to you.
